| I spoke a bit too broadly. It's not completely independent of power. That makes sense as well. The more power, the more vibration. My point to the OP was that horsepower is not the only factor to evaluate when considering a dampener. RPM is one. Price is one. Intended use. Etc. IMHO it's cheap insurance if you're going to build the short block. But it does get complicated regarding the other pulleys and belts (ATI overdrives the accessory pulleys 6-8%. Do I need an underdrive water pump pulley? Overdrive? Stock? What about alt/AC and PS?) What if I've converted to N/A PS? Does my Unorthodox aluminum pulley work? Which belts do I use?
